Dutch telco Ziggo has acquired broadcast rights to French football’s Ligue 1 and extended rights to various other sports properties in a response to the market entry by the media company Nordic Entertainment (Nent) Group.

Having been hit recently by Nent’s acquisition of rights to the English Premier League (from 2022-23) and motor racing’s Formula 1, both currently part of Ziggo’s portfolio, the telco has today (Monday) announced a deal for the French top flight.
