Yankees become second MLB team to work with Postmates

The New York Yankees have become the second Major League Baseball team to align with on-demand delivery service Postmates to offer a skip-the-line food and beverage service.

Similar to a prior alignment with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Postmates and the Yankees will offer the Postmates Live ordering service to allow fans to place concession orders from their mobile devices and retrieve them from designated pickup locations. Fans are notified by text when their orders are ready.

The Yankees and Postmates have set up two Postmates Pickup points in the main concourse of Yankee Stadium that will be used for the club’s final regular homestand beginning September 17. A wider rollout of the service is planned for 2020.

The service is designed to help address perennial fan complaints of concession wait times at many sporting events.

“Our partnership with Postmates will allow Yankee Stadium guests the convenience of selecting, ordering, and paying for their food in advance of arriving at concession stands, maximizing the amount of time guests can spent at their seats enjoying the action,” said Marty Greenspun, Yankees senior vice president of strategic ventures.

The agreement will also involve the Yankees’ concessionaire, Legends Hospitality, of which the club is a part-owner.
