The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has assigned hosting rights for five of its upcoming major events.
The Taiwanese capital of Chinese Taipei will stage the 2018 World Poomsae Championships from November 15-18, as well as the 2018 World Grand Prix Series 2 event from September 20-22.
Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt will host the 2017 World Cadet Championships from August 23-27, while the Russian capital of Moscow was awarded hosting rights to the 2017 World Grand Prix Series 1 event from August 4-6.
Marrakech in Morocco will host the 2017 World Grand Prix Series 2 event from September 22-24.
The WTF Council awarded the rights during its extraordinary meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday (Tuesday).
The WTF Council also approved a new logo design for the body, which will be unveiled during this year’s World Championships in Muju, Korea. The event runs from June 24-30.
Meanwhile, the meeting also saw French Guiana approved as the WTF’s latest member nation. The addition of French Guiana, which requires the final approval of the WTF's general assembly, will take the total number of WTF member national associations to 208.
