World Sailing president Kim Andersen will face off against China’s Quanhai Li to retain his position after the two men secured the most votes in a first round of voting.

World Sailing on Saturday announced that 127 of its 145 member national associations submitted a verified vote to the independent scrutineer by the deadline of 3pm UTC on Friday. World Sailing regulations state that a candidate for president must obtain more than 50 per cent of the votes in order to be elected. If no candidate receives more than 50 per cent of the votes, then a runoff vote must be held between the top two candidates.
