Indian multinational automobile manufacturing corporation Mahindra has signed a deal with Monumental Sports and Entertainment to become an official partner of the National Basketball Association’s Washington Wizards and National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals.
As part of this global partnership, the Mumbai-based Mahindra will receive in-arena television network advertisements, Wizards courtside LED rotational and LED basket stanchion signage. It will also serve as a Capitals’ Military Appreciation Night participating partner.
Jim Van Stone, Monumental’s president of business operations and chief commercial officer, said: “This partnership is another outstanding example of how Monumental is continuing to grow its global footprint.”
Monumental has recently looked to engage and expand its fanbase in Japan following the drafting of Japanese superstar Rui Hachimura in 2019.
Last October, the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers played two NBA pre-season games at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai. The NBA India Games 2019 were not only the NBA’s first competitive matches in the country but they also marked the first time that teams from any North American sports league played in India.
