Australia-based football club Western Sydney Wanderers has signed an extension to its contract with regional transport body Transport for NSW.

The deal, which includes rights to the team’s sleeve sponsorship designation, will run until the end of 2022, and builds on an association which dates back to 2015.

The agreement allows Transport for NSW to promote its road safety messaging on the team’s kit.

Supporting this will be continued matchday activation, as well as digital and social campaigns as the two organisations work together to change behaviour around speeding in the New South Wales region.

Paul Toole, Acting Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, said: “I can’t stress enough how important it is to slow down.

“With the help of the Western Sydney Wanderers, we’re using the power of football to raise awareness and start conversations about road trauma and how everyone can help prevent it.”

The anti-speeding messaging is joined on the kit by sports retailer JD Sports as front-of-shirt sponsor, and kit supplier Kappa.
