Technology company Rakuten recorded the biggest NBA jersey patch deal in the inventory’s short history when it extended its agreement with the Golden State Warriors in May, SportBusiness has learnt.
According to sports industry sources, Rakuten agreed to pay more than double the annual rights fee paid under the terms of the first agreement in 2017, committing between $40m (€38m) to $45m per year from the 2022-23 season in the multi-year deal announced four weeks ago.
