The Vuelta a España will return to Barcelona for the first time in over a decade next year, with the Catalan capital set to host its first opening stage of the cycling ‘Grand Tour’ since 1962.

A deal announced today (Monday) by Barcelona City Council and Unipublic, promoter of La Vuelta, will see a team time trial held entirely within the city open the 2023 race. Barcelona will also be the destination for the second stage, as well as holding the official presentation gala and other events.
