Vote delayed on Los Angeles Olympic bid, as new committee formed

Alexander Zhukov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), has said the country could bid to host the 2028 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Salt Lake City in Utah, United States, has established a committee to investigate a possible bid for the 2026 or 2030 winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, while the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has spoken of its “disappointment” that Innsbruck will not enter the race to host the 2026 Games.

Paris was formally confirmed as host of the 2024 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games on Wednesday, while Los Angeles landed the 2028 Games, as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) broke with decades of tradition in what president Thomas Bach claimed was a “win-win-win” situation.

The Canadian city of Calgary has formed a committee to discuss a potential bid for the 2026 winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
