USA Cricket sanctioned as ICC associate member

USA Cricket has been officially sanctioned by the International Cricket Council. It means the governing body is now eligible to receive funding and can sanction domestic and international cricket in the United States.

USA Cricket was established in 2017 following the expulsion of its troubled predecessor, the USA Cricket Association (USACA).

“This is truly an exciting day for USA Cricket and the entire US cricket community,” said USA Cricket Board chairman Paraag Marathe. “We realise the incredible responsibility that comes with this recognition and we are committed to working hard to be great stewards of the game both for the United States and global cricket.”

A professional T20 league is being planned. It is hoped the domestic competition will launch by 2021.
