US football heavyweights sign up for Leaders Sport Summit

Two of the biggest names in US football, Sunil Gulati, president of the US Soccer Federation and Don Garber, commissioner of Major League Soccer, are the latest speakers to be revealed for the Leaders Sport Summit, which is being held in New York on May 21.

Taking place at the Paley Center for Media in Manhattan, the two will form part of a special Fifa World Cup discussion panel. With the 2014 World Cup rapidly approaching, the session will explore the impact that the tournament has across the globe, paying particular attention to the US market.

As the first ever US edition of the Leaders Sport Summit, Gulati and Garber join Mark Lazarus, chairman of US broadcaster NBC Sports Group; Vivek Ranadivé, owner of NBA basketball franchise Sacramento Kings; Bob Bowman, chief executive of Major League Baseball’s Advanced Media division; Jörg Wacker, executive board member of internationalisation and strategy for German Bundesliga football club Bayern Munich; Mark Tatum, deputy commissioner and chief operating officer of the NBA; Bruce Buck, chairman of English Premier League club Chelsea; and Dave Howard, president of Madison Square Garden’s MSG Sports, for the event.

James Worrall, chief executive of Leaders, said: “We’re really excited to have both Sunil and Don join us for our New York summit. Passes for the event are selling fast and, with the World Cup being the topic on everyone’s tongues this summer and two of the tournament’s experts joining the summit, we’re expecting demand to continue to grow even further.”
