United World Wrestling (UWW) has moved to switch the hosting rights to its 2022 and 2023 Senior World Championships in order to fall in-line with the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) ruling on the Russian doping scandal.

The UWW Bureau had approved the candidature of Belgrade, Serbia as the host of the 2023 World Championships. However, due to the restrictions imposed on Russia for hosting sporting events in 2021 and 2022, the Serbian capital will now replace the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk as the World Championships host for 2022.
