Uefa has invited tenders in the sports category, including the official match ball, for its men’s club competitions for the 2021-24 commercial cycle.
The sports category packages will include the right to produce and market both the official match ball and sports equipment and apparel, including footwear, for the relevant Uefa competitions.
The rights will be tendered separately for the Champions League (including the Super Cup, Youth League and Uefa Futsal Champions League Finals) and for the Europa League/Europa Conference League.
In the current cycle, long-term Uefa partner adidas supplies the match ball for the Champions League, while Japanese sports brand Molten supplies the match ball for the Europa League.
The tender process will be launched on December 16, 2019. The bid deadline is February 7, 2020.
Uefa’s exclusive marketing agency Team Marketing will manage the bidding process and will be the point of contact for any subsequent contractual negotiations.
Earlier this month, Uefa announced it had, in principle, accepted offers in relation to four Uefa Champions League global sponsorship packages. Eight global packages will be sold in the cycle, separately from the sports supplier category.
After the sale, in principle, of the third global package, Uefa adopted a package-by-package sales approach, rather than a category-by-category sales approach, because of the high demand.
So far, only beer brand Heineken has been announced as an official sponsor for the 2021-24 cycle. Uefa launched category-specific invitations for payments services and logistics category sponsors in September and October.
