Turkish Süper Lig football club Galatasaray has agreed a deal for national flag carrier Turkish Airlines to become its front-of-shirt sponsor during Uefa Champions League matches.
The deal has been signed ahead of the Istanbul-based club’s opening match in Group A against Belgian outfit Club Brugge later today (Wednesday).
The agreement will run for the duration of the 2019-20 season. Galatasaray has also been drawn alongside Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in Group A.
Last month, Galatasaray agreed a two-season deal for restaurant chain Terra Pizza to become its new main shirt sponsor, with its logo to appear on the front of the team’s shirts during domestic matches.
The deal with Terra Pizza will net Galatasaray a fixed sum of TL18m (€2.9m/$3.1m) for the 2019-20 season, rising to TL20m in the following campaign. Terra Pizza replaced construction group Nef as the club’s main sponsor. Nef had sponsored Galatasaray since August 2016.
Earlier this month, Turkish Airlines sealed a three-season deal to become the main sponsor of Argentinian Superliga club River Plate.
