Tipico, the Malta-based betting operator, has renewed its title sponsorship rights agreement with the Austrian Bundesliga until the end of the 2020-21 season.
Tipico, which is particularly active in Germany and Austria, has been the title sponsor of the league since the 2014-15 season. It replaced Austrian gaming company Tipp3 in the role.
Christian Ebenbauer, the Bundesliga chairman, said that the fact the deal will enter its seventh year is proof that the title sponsorship is “a complete success for both sides”.
Through the one-year extension, Tipico will become the longest-serving title sponsor of the Austrian top flight. At the time of its original three-season agreement in 2014, it was reported that Tipico was spending €2m ($2.18m) per season on the rights.
Tipico became a sponsor of Germany’s Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga competitions at the start of 2018 in a deal running until the end of the 2020-21 season.
