Tencent expands sports streaming outside China with MLB deal

Chinese streaming platform and internet giant Tencent has announced its first major sports media rights deal covering territories outside its home market, with a three-year deal for Major League Baseball rights covering more than a dozen Asian markets as well as China.

The deal covers three seasons, 2021 to 2023. Coverage outside China will be on Tencent's international streaming platform WeTV. The deal has been reported to cover Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and more than 10 other markets.
