Brazilian Série A club Santos has struck a shirt sponsorship deal with adhesive brand Tekbond running from now until the end of 2021.

Under the deal, Tekbond will brand the upper middle section of the Santos shirt, above the space where the main shirt sponsor would usually sit.

Santos is still struggling to sign a new major sponsor following the exit of government-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal in 2019.

In August, Santos hired US sports agency Gemini Sports Group to fill the position, as well as other kit and premium sponsorships for the club.

Eduardo Mano, marketing director at Tekbond, said the new sponsorship would raise awareness of the company and the public’s perception of the brand’s value.

In addition to the kit branding, which includes logo positions on training and travel apparel, Tekbond will be present on the club’s social networks, gain hospitality rights at the Vila Belmiro stadium, advertising signs at the CT Rei Pelé training facility and on interviews backdrops.

Marcelo Frazão, marketing and communication executive at Santos, said that Tekbond was the ninth sponsor to get branding on the players’ kit, joining Philco (back of shirt, above number), Kicaldo (shoulders), Casa de Apostas (upper chest), Fox Lux (back of shirt, below number), Oceano B2B (lower front of shirt), Unicesumar (back of shorts), Kodilar (back of socks) and Orthopride (number).
