Luc Tardif has been elected as the first new president of the International Ice Hockey Federation for nearly three decades, seeing off the claims of four rivals to succeed René Fasel.
Tardif becomes the 14th president of the IIHF, and the second from France after the federation’s founding president, Louis Magnus. It was confirmed in July that a total of five candidates were in the running to succeed Fasel as president, with the elections held on Saturday at the IIHF’s Semi-Annual Congress.
