Switzerland’s La Diagonela secures Ski Classics place

Long-distance cross county skiing championship Ski Classics has added a new event in Switzerland for its 2015 season.

La Diagonela will take place close to St Moritz in the south east of the country on January 17 next year. The 65km race is open for pro teams and amateur skiers, in line with the policy for all Ski Classics events.

La Diagonela is the first race to be presented for the Ski Classics 2015 calendar, with the complete schedule to be launched on August 26.

A significant factor in it earning a designated spot on the roster was the race organisers staging a replacement event during the 2014 Ski Classics series, when the Jizerska meeting in Czech Republic was cancelled.

Ramun Ratti, co-president of La Diagonela, said: “In January 2014, when we organised the replacement of Jizérska, we could show the cross-country community that we have the ability to arrange such a professional event.”
