Surrey CEO Gould: Sport ‘held back’ in UK’s Covid-19 response

Surrey County Cricket Club chief executive Richard Gould has said he thinks the UK government has favoured other industries ahead of sport in its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to SportBusiness after last Thursday’s T20 Blast match between Surrey and Hampshire, the latest in a series of pilot events approved and monitored by the UK authorities to test the viability of spectators returning to sports grounds, Gould questioned the delay in developing a strategy for sport that was comparable with the travel and hospitality sectors.
