Over half of German sports fans who have given up going to events say it is because the TV experience is better, according to research carried out by SportBusiness ahead of next month’s Sports Decision Makers Summit London.
The data, which also shows that around a half in the UK and some 40 per cent in Italy and Spain feel the same way, highlights the importance of live sport’s competition with the couch and will give context to a high-level conference discussion on strategies to enhance the game day experience.
Industry experts Michael G. Cole, chief technology officer at the European Tour & Ryder Cup Europe, Paul Samuels executive vice-president, global partnerships at AEG and Christopher Lee managing director, EMEA at Populous, will take part in the panel discussion which will focus on adding value to the game day experience and highlight examples of innovation in the field, the role of sponsors and other third parties and the return on investment.
