Streetwear brand BAPE launches apparel with PUBG video game

Popular streetwear brand Bape has launched a series of apparel and accessories with PC and console video game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).

PUBG is an online multi-player battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole.

All items in the collaboration are designed with a redemption code for exclusive PUBG in-game rewards and items, which can be unlocked after the item is purchased.

The apparel and accessories will be released at Bape retailers worldwide and on their website from August 31, and is widely expected to sell out quickly with strong demand from gaming and streetwear enthusiasts.

In 2018 PUBG and Bape had a similar collaboration in reverse, which allowed their gamers to use and accessorise their gaming avatars with Bape-branded in-game items such as hoodies and frying pans. Some of those items, such as the frying pans, have now made the transition from being digital avatars into real-world items in this new 2019 collaboration.

Bape, which stands for A Bathing Ape, is a Japanese clothing store founded in 1993, and is popular with in the lifestyle market for its streetwear despite premium prices.  The label also collaborated with competitive swimwear label Arena and tennis brand Wilson recently.
