Contracts threatened as Spanish government wants October ban on betting operator shirt branding

Spanish government legislation that would ban betting operators from kit branding on sports teams could be passed as early as October, the Minister in charge of the new law has announced.

In a move that will throw recent contracts between Spanish LaLiga football clubs and betting operators into disarray, Alberto Garzón, the Minister of Consumer Affairs, said the Royal Decree Law is expected to be approved in October.
