The Asociación de Clubes Españoles de Baloncesto (ACB), which organises the top tier of club basketball in Spain, has signed a wide-ranging collaboration agreement with Ningbo Weilburg Tianshan Investment Management, a Chinese investment group.

The agreement will focus on the development of the Liga ACB in China and includes the transfer of audiovisual rights for the top flight, as well as the Copa del Rey and Endesa Super Cup competitions.

The ACB said the deal also lays the foundations for development projects and training initiatives, as well as possible friendly matches. The agreement is designed to raise the Liga ACB’s profile in Asia and continue the development of the sport in China, which hosted the recent Fiba World Cup.

ACB president Antonio Martín said the agreement marks “a very important step in the international development” of the organisation. He added: “With this agreement we will initiate a lasting and stable collaboration, starting academic projects and bringing the knowledge and sports talent of the ACB to support the local training of players.”

The length and financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
