South Korean government committing KRW1.7tn in 2021 to help sport recover

South Korea’s government is committing KRW1.74tn ($1.47bn/€1.22bn) to next year’s budget to help the sports sector recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced plans to allocate additional funds for international sports events to be hosted in the country, the construction of a national sports centre, further research and development in the sports sector and support for the sports industry.
