Slovak-Polish 2022 Olympic bid progresses

Slovakia’s joint bid with Poland to host the 2022 winter Olympics has progressed with the Slovak government’s approval of a financial report.

The country plans to spend roughly €481,000 on hosting preparatory work, with as much as 40 per cent for bid studies and assessment work, and 35 per cent for travel expenses and attending various meetings.

Minor infrastructure work will also be needed at Jasna ski resort of in Slovakia’s Low Tatras, which will host the Games along with Polish city Krakow should the bid win in July 2015.

The Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry-drafted report read: “All that’s needed are investments in the modernisation and reconstruction of already existing facilities, or in new venues built in place of already existing facilities and sports complexes.”
