Sky NZ profits fall amid sports rights spend

Pay-television broadcaster Sky New Zealand has seen its half-year profit fall despite revenue rising, as it broke through the one million subscriber barrier.

In its financial report for the six months ending December 31, 2022, Sky reported revenue of NZ$378.6m (€222.2m/$235.9m), two per cent up on the equivalent period in 2021 (NZ$371.7m). The positive revenue trend included growth of 48 per cent for Sky Sport Now.
