The Polish region of Silesia has been added to the hosting plan for the 2023 edition of the European Games multi-sport event, joining nearby Krakow and the Region of Malopolska.

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) said the involvement of Silesia would pave the way for athletics to join the programme of events for the Games. Other sports contested at the Games will include boxing, archery, badminton, karate and modern pentathlon, with the final programme to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
