Segev: Team Whistle engagement key to Eleven deal, channel rebranding on ‘case-by-case’ basis

DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev (L) and Eleven founder Andrea Radrizzani (R)

DAZN Group’s takeover interest in Eleven Group was driven not only by the latter’s football rights portfolio and strong presence in markets such as Belgium and Portugal, but also the ability of Eleven-owned digital content company Team Whistle to deepen DAZN’s engagement and reach with a younger demographic, according to company chief executive Shay Segev.

The anticipated takeover agreement was announced this morning and, upon its expected completion before the end of this year, the acquisition will add Eleven Sports’ subscription business, its streaming platform and technology, plus Team Whistle to DAZN’s assets.
