The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced yesterday that domestic applications for a second sales lottery for Paralympics tickets will take place from January 15 to 29.

Tickets are priced affordably, with seats at competitive events ranging from ¥900 ($8.33/€7.47) to ¥7,000. Tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies will cost from ¥8,000 to ¥150,000.

The lottery results will be announced on February 18. A third and final ticket lottery will take place in Spring 2020, offering first-come, first-served sales on a global basis.

A record number of 390,000 Japanese residents took part in the first Paralympic ticket lottery for Tokyo 2020, more than three times the number for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. More than 3 million tickets were requested. Currently, 160,000 residents have been allotted tickets. In Tokyo 2020’s bid for the Games, organisers said there would be 2.3m tickets sold for the Paralympics.
