Seattle’s NHL expansion team gets fresh investment and looks to December vote on bid

A host of local investors have brought fresh funding and renewed hope to Seattle’s efforts to have a National Hockey League (NHL) team, while the league’s deputy commissioner has named December as the “likely” date for a vote on the team’s entry.

Seattle Hockey Partners, the ownership group set up to manage the proposed new team, is headed up by local businessman David Wright, whose family founded the original Seattle Sounders soccer team, and helped to fund the building of the city’s world famous Space Needle.
