Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders are expanding their relationship with WaFd Bank by naming the financial institution as the club’s inaugural sleeve patch partner.
The Seattle-area bank, formerly known as Washington Federal, has been the club’s exclusive banking partner since 2018.
WaFd Bank logos will appear on both sleeves of Sounders kits throughout the duration of the MLS is Back Tournament, which is being held at the ESPN Wide World of Sport complex in Orlando, Florida. The league is allowing teams to secure partners for both jersey sleeves and, in select cases, on shorts in Orlando.
WaFd Bank will remain the right-sleeve partner for any matches played following the tournament during the 2020 season.
FC Dallas’s main jersey partner AdvoCare will become the team’s inaugural sleeve-patch partner in 2021.
Elsewhere, iHeartMedia Philadelphia and Philadelphia Union have announced Fox Sports Radio’s The Gambler is now the official radio broadcast partner of the MLS team.
Nashville SC’s place in the MLS Is Back Tournament is under some doubt after their game against Chicago Fire, which was scheduled for July 8, was postponed following a widespread Covid-19 outbreak in the team.
MLS commissioner Don Garber indicated on an ESPN broadcast that a decision over whether Nashville SC can continue will be made on July 9. According to reports, nine Nashville SC players have tested positive for the coronavirus.
FC Dallas has already been forced to withdraw from the event after a coronavirus outbreak.
