Schalke terminates Gazprom deal

German 2. Bundesliga football club Schalke 04 has today (Monday) terminated its long-running deal with its main sponsor, Russian majority state-owned energy giant Gazprom, adding it is confident of securing a new partner in the “near future”.

The Gelsenkirchen club has acted following days of talk over the status of the contract following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
