Brazilian football club São Paulo has extended its contract with one of its shirt sponsors, real estate company MRV.
The renewal builds on an association which began in 2017. Previously the brand’s logo was visible on the back of São Paulo’s shirts, but this will now switch to the shoulder under the new deal.
The agreement will run until the end of 2020, with the option for a further extension.
João Fernando Rossi, the club’s executive marketing director was pleased to sign the deal amid the uncertaintity of the Covid-19 outbreak. He said: ”At a time when the economy appears so retracted, we managed to maintain a very important partnership for the club and that certainly will continue to bear fruit.”
MRV forms part of a shirt sponsorship portfolio which is headlined by digital banking company Banco Intermedium. The brand recently renewed its main shirt deal until the end of 2020.
The club has been active in strengthening its kit sponsorship portfolio throughout the first half of 2020, with discount card specialists Cartão de Todos signing as shorts sponsor in March.
The Brazilian football season is currently suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
