San Francisco and Houston to host Super Bowl

San Francisco and Houston were announced as winning bidders of the National Football League (NFL)’s Super Bowl in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

The Levi’s Stadium will host the 50th Super Bowl in San Francisco, despite the venue still being under construction. The city’s bid was backed by big businesses including Apple, Google and Yahoo, and the event will reportedly generate between $300-500 million for the region.

Houston will host the championship game for a third time, having previously won the bid in 1974 and 2004.

Miami also bid for the Super Bowl, but failed as the Miami Dolphins team did not secure enough state funding to redevelop its 26-year-old stadium.
