Further details of the title sponsorship contract between the top division of Spanish handball, Liga Asobal, and Spanish construction company Sacyr have emerged.
Spanish sports news publication Palco23 reports that Sacyr will pay an annual fee of €300,000 ($331,600) for the naming rights to the league in a deal which runs through the rest of the 2019-20 season and all of 2020-21.
The news further extends the brand’s association with the sport of handball, with it having sponsored the Royal Spanish Handball Federation since 2015.
The agreement was brokered by sponsorship agency MediaPro Brands, which Liga Asobal has worked with in an attempt to boost its commercial revenue.
The firm were also key in securing the sponsorship contracts with drinks brand Mineral San Benedetto and sports medicine and physiotherapy specialists RehabMedic.
Spanish Insurance group Plus Ultra Seguros, transport company Renfe, sports apparel brand Select Sports, the Spanish national lottery and broadcasters Cope and LaLigaSportsTV complete the league’s sponsorship portfolio.
The league’s 2019-20 season is currently at the half way point, with holders Barcelona currently in first position. The first match to be played under the new Liga Sacyr Asobal name will take place on February 5, between between Bidasoa Irún and Abanca Ademar León.
