Rugby Australia threatens to leave Super Rugby for a ‘more lucrative’ domestic format

Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan has said Australia could exit trans-Tasman Super Rugby in 2024 for a purely domestic competition.

Some within Australian rugby believe a domestic competition would be more lucrative than the current format, in which Australian teams play against teams from New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
