Hamish McLennan, the chairman of Rugby Australia, said the organisation is willing to host a "mini World Cup" during the southern hemisphere’s winter to support the international calendar during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With France scheduled to tour Australia in July, McLennan said he will be inviting other northern hemisphere nations to consider joining them for a potential competition running parallel to the southern hemisphere’s Rugby Championship, the international competition contested annually by Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
