Rossi’s Saudi-backed team set for 2022 MotoGP entry, Japan MotoGP cancelled

Racing Team VR46, the motorcycling outfit owned by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi and now backed by oil and natural gas company Saudi Aramco, has confirmed a five-year contract to compete in the premier class of MotoGP.

VR46 has agreed the deal with Dorna Sports, MotoGP’s commercial rights-holder. Founded in 2014, VR46 has previously raced in MotoGP’s feeder categories, Moto3 and Moto2, but armed with its new backing will enter the premier class from the 2022 season.
