Rome to host CEV Champions League finale

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) has announced that the Italian capital of Rome will host the Final Four stage of its 2017 Men’s Champions League club competition.

The event will take place at Rome’s PalaLottomatica arena from April 29-30. The Italian Volleyball Federation will stage the event alongside Italian Volleyball League team, Sir Sicoma Colussi Perugia.

It will mark the first time that Italy has staged the Final Four since the PalaOnda arena in Bolzano played host in 2011.

The PalaLottomatica (pictured) has experience of staging top-tier volleyball events in the past, having hosted the 2010 and 2014 Men’s and Women’s World Championships, the 2005 Men’s European Championship and a number of International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World League matches.

Last year’s Final Four was staged in Krakow in Poland, where Russian team Zenit Kazan defeated Italian outfit Trentino Diatec to claim its second successive title.

The group stage of this year’s Champions League is underway and will be followed by play-off rounds to determine which three teams will challenge Sir Sicoma Colussi Perugia in the Final Four.
