The Rugby League World Cup 2021 was dealt another blow after the 16 clubs in the Australian National Rugby League backed the withdrawal of Australia and New Zealand from the event.
In a statement issued last week (Friday), the clubs said they had concerns over the safety of their players and cited uncertainty around the Covid-19 protocols of the event before backing the tournament.
