RLIF rebrands as International Rugby League

The Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) has announced it has rebranded as International Rugby League (IRL), effective from today (Tuesday).

The RLIF said its membership has endorsed the name change ahead of a wider rebranding effort. International Rugby League chair, Graeme Thompson, said: “The board and the membership have agreed that it is right to change our name and identity to better represent our position as a bold, modern and dynamic international sports federation.

“We will also be rolling out a comprehensive re-brand over the coming months as we implement several important and really valuable resources to support our membership and the fans of international rugby league, including a new, state of the art website and portal.”

Today’s announcement makes the RLIF the latest International Federation (IF) to undertake a rebranding in recent years.

In June, the Council of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) approved proposals to change the name of the governing body to ‘World Athletics’ and to introduce a new logo.
