Glasgow Rangers withdraws from Sydney friendlies

Scottish Premiership football club Glasgow Rangers has withdrawn from the Sydney Super Cup competition in November, terminating plans for a first-ever Old Firm derby match to be staged overseas.

Rangers and intra-city rivals Celtic were due to play in a quadrangular friendly tournament in Australia alongside local clubs Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC during the international break for the Fifa World Cup.
