Premiership Rugby’s plan to halt relegation and grow its league to 13 clubs next season has been put on hold due to opposition from pay-television broadcaster BT Sport, its domestic broadcast rights-holder.
Pay-television broadcaster BT Sport will pay an average of around £36.5m (€41.5m/$50m) per season for exclusive domestic rights to the competition in a three-season deal, from 2021-22 to 2023-24.
