Premier League breaks records with summer spending spree

The English Premier League has smashed its transfer spending record in the summer 2014 window, with the £835m (€1.05bn/$1.38bn) gross expenditure of domestic clubs being close to double that of the next highest-spending league – the Spanish Liga.
