The Premier Lacrosse League has announced the name and brand identity of its inaugural expansion team, Waterdogs Lacrosse Club.
The branding of the team was made in collaboration with Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast, fan responses, PLL designers and copywriters, and design agency Fortnight Collective, which has offices in both Colorado and in London.
The addition of Waterdogs means the touring PLL, which was founded by brothers Paul and Mike Rabil, will have seven teams going into its second season this summer.
An expansion draft will be held on February 12 to select 18 players who will join the Waterdogs roster, while the head coach will be announced in the coming days.
Last month World Lacrosse chief executive Jim Scherr told SportBusiness that the global governing body was considering outsourcing its social media output to the PLL’s in-house team.
