A planned investment deal between two of the Philippines' biggest media groups and sports broadcasters has been terminated after coming under political pressure.

Broadcaster ABS-CBN, which was in 2020 forced to take its free-to-air linear channels off-air by regulators, planned to acquire a 34.9-per-cent stake in free-to-air broadcaster TV5 in a deal worth P2.16bn ($38m/€38m).
