Italian tyre brand Pirelli will be the main event sponsors for the Spanish, French and Riviera di Rimini rounds of this year’s Superbike World Championship.
The deal, made with championship organisers Dorna WSBK Organization, will cover three of the biggest events on the calendar with races at Ángel Nieto (Spain), Magny-Cours (France) and the Misano World Circuit (Italy).
Pirelli has been the official tyres supplier of the Championship for 17 consecutive seasons. The last deal, signed in September 2017, covered the 2019 and 2020 WorldSBK seasons in all classes of the series.
The race at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto is scheduled to restart the season on July 31 to August 2. The championship was stopped because of the Covid-19 pandemic after the first round in Phillip Island, Australia, in February.
The provisional calendar for the remainder of the 2020 comprises the Algarve round in Portugal (August 7-9), followed by two races at MotorLand Aragon in Spain (August 28-31 and September 4-6).
The first ever Catalan WorldSBK round will go ahead as planned September 18-20, before the French round at Magny-Cours (October 2-4). The Argentinean round at the Circuito San Juan Villicum remains on course for October 9-11, while the final round of the championship will be the Rimini round in Italy (November 6-8).
The following rounds are still to be determined; the UK round at Donington Park, the Netherlands’ round at TT Circuit Assen and the Qatar round at the Losail International Circuit.
