Paris 2024 will set a first for a summer Olympic Games after confirming that its opening ceremony will take place outside of a stadium, instead taking in the heart of the French capital.
The board of directors of Paris 2024 have rubber-stamped a vision which will see a 6km procession transport athletes along the River Seine in a flotilla of some 160 boats, between Pont d’Austerlitz and the Pont d’Iéna.
