James Pallotta, the co-owner and chairman of Serie A team AS Roma and co-owner of the NBA’S Boston Celtics, has joined the ever-growing line-up of global sports leaders confirmed as keynote speakers at the inaugural Sports Decision Makers Summit at the W Hotel, Miami Beach, on May 6 and 7.
Pallotta, whose wide-ranging sports interests also include the Fnatic e-sports organisation, adds his unique perspective on the global sports business to a programme designed to deliver high-value data, insight and intelligence to the world’s leading sports investors, owners and C-suite executives.
Joining Pallotta as a keynote speaker is Terrence Burns, executive vice-president for global sport at Engine Shop and Xavier O’Callaghan who leads FC Barcelona’s commercial operations in the Americas.
Terrence Burns is one of the world’s most experienced sports marketers and event bidding specialists. He has been at the coal-face of Olympic sponsorship from the sponsor and property side, having led Delta Airlines’ sponsorship of the 1996 Atlanta Games before co-founding the IOC’s in-house agency. He has also worked with a variety of Olympic clients around the world including five winning Olympic bid campaigns and was the brand strategist for Russia’s successful 2018 FIFA World Cup bid.
Xavier O’Callaghan, an Olympian who won a bronze medal playing handball with Spain at the Sydney Olympic Games, is steeped in Barcelona’s sports and business culture. After a highly successful playing career with the club, he managed its handball, futsal and roller-hockey sections.
Pallotta, Burns and O’Callaghan add further breadth and authority to a speaker line-up of heavy-hitters including George Pyne, Founder and chief executive of Bruin Sports Capital, Larry Scott, commissioner of the Pac-12 Conference, Sean Bratches, managing director of commercial operations at Formula One and Eelco van der Noll, head of partnerships and experiential at Anheuser Busch.
